Begin your tour at Kuan Yin Temple, one of the oldest temples in Penang, built in 1728 by early Chinese immigrant settlers. Located on Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling (formerly Pitt Street), the temple recently underwent renovations. Observe the impressive architecture and learn about Malaysian Chinese worship rituals.
The next stop is Kapitan Keling Mosque, a prominent Penang landmark. Beyond the mosque itself, cultural centers nearby highlight the Indian Muslim community’s role in Penang’s history and daily life. The mosque is well maintained and open for visits by non-Muslims.
Visit Sri Mahamariamman Temple, one of the oldest Hindu temples in Penang, standing for 200 years. Its main entrance features intricate sculptures of gods and goddesses. This site offers insights into Hindu culture and religion. Enjoy Indian tea and sweets, creating memorable moments.
